Utinni!

I love being a Jawa. And it is way easier to be one than you’d think. My friend Marial did my mask for me, but I will get pictures of my finished mask for reference later.

You get a “Jason” style ski mask, cut off the bottom to free up your mouth, if you desire, paint it black, attach some glowing eyes below where your own eyes are. Either by gluing them on using magnets. You attach some speaker cloth or very fine mesh over the top, I did two layers, and cut out holes for the eyes. Tuck it into your hood and you’re good!

Otherwise, you’re using a lot of monk’s cloth, brown or dyed to be that color. I have a new version in progress (no pictures right now), but this one was made with pre-dyed monk’s cloth. I cut it as one piece for the body, added sleeves, made the hood with a wire around the front to keep it’s shape and black cotton inside. You do want some fraying, but I did a straight stitch on the sleeves and hemline to keep it from fraying too far. Scrap monk’s cloth was hot glued onto some rubber boots and I weathered it with brown acrylic paints and spray paints. I also later added a harness out of elastic to hold my voice box to be in a better spot than on my hip where it would fall off.

You wear a long sleeve black shirt and pants along with a black balaclava. Shimmy on your oversized tunic/robe, pull on some long black gloves and pull the bandolier on along with your boots. Pull on your mask and hood and you’re ready to hit the cantina!

Also not pictured is the fingerless glove I wear from Hyper Space props on Etsy that provided the sounds to let me speak Jawa on a semi-reliably basis.

The following pictures are from a photoshoot with a couple friends at a place called “Little Moab” in Utah. Our photographer Valhalla Photography did an amazing job! It was such a blast!

And here are some shenanigans from trooping with the different Star Wars groups. I’m part of Rebel Legion and the 501st Legion.

The bottom two are from SL FanX convention in 2023. And yes, that is a mini-sandcrawler I made. That will have it’s own page. Shortly.

Also, there was a Black Series toy that came out last year. It was a Christmas Jawa. I do not have many pictures of it yet, but with the help of my lovely aforementioned friend, I have that version, too!
